DataFast review: analytics that follow the money
Google Analytics will tell you a Reddit thread sent 400 visitors. DataFast tells you which of those visitors bought. That’s the whole product.
Affiliate disclosure: this page links to DataFast with my partner code (https://datafa.st/?via=matt). I may earn a commission if you subscribe. I still wouldn’t recommend it for an ads-only media site.
Verdict: 8.6 / 10
Best cheap revenue-attribution layer for indie hackers and small SaaS. Skip it if you need heatmaps, session replay, or you don’t take payments through Stripe, Shopify, Polar, or Lemon Squeezy.
Start a 14-day DataFast trialWhat DataFast actually does
You drop a ~4KB script on the site (WordPress, Shopify, Webflow, Next.js, or a raw HTML page like this one). You connect the payment processor. DataFast maps paying customers back to the first touch — X, Reddit, a newsletter, a comparison post.
That matters when you run a portfolio. I ship games (Muk.gg, r/fishlegend) and small paid tools. I don’t want five GA4 properties and a weekend of ecommerce events. I want: which URL minted a customer.
- Web analytics without the vanity pile-on
- Native revenue attribution (Stripe, Shopify, Woo, Polar, Lemon Squeezy, payment links, API)
- Goals, funnels, visitor journeys
- Live visitor view plus API / CLI / MCP for agents
- Optional cookieless script if you don’t want a banner
Pricing (2026)
| Plan | Price | What you get | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $9/mo | 1 site, 1 seat, ~10k events, 3 years retention | One product |
| Growth | $19/mo | Up to 30 sites, 30 seats, longer retention, extra X/Reddit attribution | A messy portfolio |
| Trial | $0 for 14 days | No card required | Anyone testing |
Who it’s for
Use it if you sell something and you experiment on public channels. Skip it if you only run ads against a content site, or you already have a growth team living in GA4 + Mixpanel + a CDP.
What I like
- The question is revenue, not bounce rate
- Multi-site dashboard matches how makers actually work
- MCP/CLI means I can ask an agent “who bought after the blog” without opening a tab
- Price undercuts Fathom and matches Plausible while adding the money layer
What could be better
- No heatmaps or session recordings
- Affiliate and ad-only businesses get less from the Stripe hook
- Dashboard can lock if you blow the event cap
If you came here from a cash-advance ranking: different problem. If you came here because you ship: start the trial, then go play Muk.
