How to make a viral mobile game

I’ve been studying the mobile games people dump thousands of hours into. Look far enough down and they are the same game. Collectors, makers, final distribution — then a pile of upsells. That loop is a printing machine. I’m using it on my newest game.

I grind these titles on FreeCash (that’s my invite link). Offers pay when you hit the goals. My numbers below are what I earned playing, not a promise you’ll match them.

They’re all the same game

Frog Kitchen looks like a café. Dice Dream looks like a board. Different art. Same engine:

  1. Collectors — the starting units. They gather the thing.
  2. Makers — they process it, carry it, or turn the gather into an action.
  3. Final distribution — someone gets paid. Coins, loot, a side-quest steal.

Then you sell speed, slots, skins, and “just one more upgrade.” That’s the business. Cute frogs are the costume.

1. Collectors

This is the starting spot. Right now I’m grinding Frog Kitchen. I can earn over $1,500 from it on FreeCash. The first characters are collectors: they pick up the food, cook it, and feed the next layer.

On Dice Dream (the dice-roll game), I earned over $800. The collector is the roll itself. You tap. The dice gather a result. Same job as a frog grabbing a bun — start the loop.

2. Makers

Makers take what the collectors found and make it useful. In Frog Kitchen that’s the waiters. They carry food to the customers who want to buy. In Dice Dream it’s everything after the roll: the move, the build, the action that turns a number into progress.

If collectors are “get stuff,” makers are “turn stuff into a scene.” Players watch this part. That’s why it has to feel good — bounce, cute walk cycle, a clear path to a customer.

Makers — waiters on the floor. Level 78 Rainbow Shave Ice is just a dressed-up maker station.

3. Final distribution

This is the hit of dopamine. In Frog Kitchen it’s the payout when waiters finish a delivery. Coins pop. The number goes up. In Dice Dream it’s the result of the roll — or a side quest where you attack someone and take coins and loot.

No payout, no loop. Players will not tap for an hour if the third step is invisible. Show the coins. Make the number jump. Then offer an upgrade so the next loop is faster.

Final distribution — the delivery pays. That coin burst is the whole reason the first two steps exist.

The real money: upsells and item enhancements

The loop is free to run. The company gets paid when you enhance it:

That’s it. Every popular idle/tycoon on the store is this diagram with a theme pack. You can put your own spin on it. I’m doing that on the next game.

How I’d ship it as a solo dev

  1. One loop you can explain in a sentence: collect → make → pay out.
  2. Art that’s cute enough that people screenshot it. The screenshots above are the ad.
  3. A world that makes sense. Frogs running a kitchen is dumb and clear. Don’t make an abstract “energy orb pipeline.”
  4. Upsells that speed the same loop, not a second game hiding in a shop.
  5. Ship. Then grind live titles on FreeCash so you feel where the offer walls and the sticky hours actually are.

Be a solo dev in these games. Addicting loop, cute artwork, a game that makes sense. Sky’s the limit. I’m trying to make $100k from this pattern — that’s the whole site.

Play the research (the product I actually use)

I don’t just sketch this on paper. I play the hits until the loop is obvious. Frog Kitchen and the dice games pay on FreeCash when you clear the offer. That’s the product I use to study them and get paid for the hours:

Offers change. Read the terms in the app. I’m not a bank. I’m a guy taking notes on frogs.

FAQ

Do I need a huge team?

No. You need a loop, art that reads at phone size, and the guts to ship an ugly first version. Teams dress the same machine.

Is this only idle games?

Idle and tycoon make it obvious. Battle passes and “attack for loot” are still distribution. If a tap produces a resource that another unit spends so a number goes up, you’re in the model.

Will copying Frog Kitchen work?

Copying the kitchen is how you get a lawsuit and a clone nobody remembers. Copy the loop. Change the world.
